Ontario Announces New Western York Region Ontario Health Team

On July 23, 2020 Ontario announced 5 new Ontario Health Teams to better connect care and support Ontario’s COVID-19 response. The Western York Region Ontario Health Team was officially announced bringing to three, the number of Ontario Health Teams in which CHATS is an integral partner.
Since January 2019, the Ontario Government launched its plan to implement Ontario Health Teams for a more integrated approach to improving access and services to patients and families.
Eastern York Region North Durham Ontario Health Team provides access to essential services for community

Building on their strong history of local collaboration to deliver community support services to the most vulnerable individuals, the Eastern York Region North Durham (EYRND) Ontario Health Team (OHT) partners and other local agencies have launched a support program that provides essential services to vulnerable populations in the Markham, Stouffville, Thornhill, Uxbridge and Brock communities.
The EYRND OHT partners and other local agencies have come together to create one-stop-shop of services for the communities most vulnerable people. Services include providing local transportation to medical appointments, telephone security and wellness checks, social work and counselling services as well as caregiver support services, Meals on Wheels, grocery and pharmacy pick-up and delivery, personal support and homemaking services, all are available by simply calling 1-877-452-4287.

As of Wednesday, March 11th, 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) “has made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic. Describing the situation as a pandemic does not change WHO’s assessment of the threat posed by this virus. It doesn’t change what WHO is doing, and it doesn’t change what countries should do”.
