CHATS Facts

In 1980, CHATS was launched by a caring group of York Region residents as a not-for-profit, charitable organization, to assist local seniors in maintaining an independent lifestyle. Since then, CHATS has evolved into a nationally-recognized organization that delivers a continuum of services to meet the changing needs of more than 5,500 York Region seniors and family caregivers each year.

Based on a passion for caring and community, volunteers are the heart and soul of CHATS – they make a positive difference in the health and wellness of all our clients.

CHATS is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care through the Central Local Health Integration Network, United Way of York Region, and generous community donors. All our funds are spent to enhance and develop our services and programs. CHATS has a service agreement with the Central Local Health Integration Network (Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care). Further information is available on request.

CHATS's quality achievements and service delivery model have been commended by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation.
